EMERGENCY RESPONDER COMMUNICATIONS ENHANCEMENT SYSTEMS

Emergency Responder Radio Communication Systems (ERRCS) are mandated by the International Fire Code (IFC), the International Building Code (IBC), and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in instances where the radio system signal strength does not provide the required coverage. These systems, also known as ERCES, ERRC, BDA, and DAS, serve the critical purpose of providing life safety communication for Fire, Police, and EMS first responders.

Local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) have the ultimate authority on requirements and often enforce surveys as a condition of occupancy. Many AHJs mandate a survey to assess if a building meets the code requirements. If the survey indicates inadequate signal strength and coverage, a system may be required.
