As we celebrate both Pediatric Nurses’ Week (Oct. 6-11) and Emergency Nurses’ Day (Oct. 8) it’s a good time to examine how the latest in nurse call and patient safety tech can streamline patient care for nursing staff.
Tech offers a variety of solutions for healthcare applications, including nurse call solutions from trusted providers like Jeron and Arial, along with other patient safety products like infant protection and wandering patient management.
Ray Scott, Healthcare Technology Specialist with Tech Electronics, wanted to highlight a few of these products like Jeron Nurse Call and WonderGuard Blue as the forefront of patient care solutions.
Jeron Nurse Call
Scott pointed out that Jeron’s nurse call systems are not only effective, but cost-effective, with no charge for ongoing software maintenance.
They also offer three different levels to fit the needs of every facility, from a small rural hospital to large healthcare facilities with complex needs and high patient volumes.
While nurse call systems are code-mandated for hospitals, they have a variety of different capabilities. Scott pointed to the Jeron Nurse Call 790’s connectivity with hospital’s electronic medical records system as a key advantage.
“The big thing with nurse call now is it’s not just to call the nurse for help,” said Scott. “It can call into the EMR, it can call into paging if there’s a code.”
Capabilities like that can make a huge difference in both organizational efficiency and in providing high-level care to patients.
WanderGuard BLUE
WanderGuard BLUE is the latest in advanced wandering patient management from Securitas, a leading provider in the healthcare industry. The lightweight, wearable devices are easy to implement and integrate with existing access control systems.
Scott had particularly high praise for Securitas, saying they were the top provider for monitoring solutions in the industry.
The devices are powered by Bluetooth connectivity, which Scott said draws very little power and sees very little interference from other radio frequencies, ensuring reliable connections.
He said WanderGuard BLUE’s enhanced capabilities place it head and shoulders above its competitors.
“It can be used to alert at the exit or for a full solution that has all the reporting necessary for an entire facility,” said Scott. “It basically runs that whole gamut.”
The user-friendly interface and customizable alerts along with cloud-enable remote monitoring means nursing staff can focus on their work knowing their patients are safe.
