AI-powered analytics continue to advance video surveillance with alerts for events like intruders, propped doors and vehicle access, but the advantages afforded by these systems don’t stop there.
With platforms like Pelco Calipsa and Hanwha Vision Wisenet, artificial intelligence can pull even more data from camera feeds, decreasing the time spent on tedious or repetitive tasks and making your security team more efficient.
Pelco Calipsa
The Calipsa Cloud platform uses these same AI-powered analytics to monitor camera feeds for damage, tampering and operational failures. The platform is offered for free on all Pelco cameras under warranty.
Surveillance systems, especially with exterior cameras, face lots of environmental challenges. Weather events like storms can result in obstructed views or may force a camera’s angle off its intended view.
Bad actors could attempt to blind the camera or alter its view away from a door or gate.
The system operates through a dashboard that notifies operators if a camera’s view has been obstructed, or even if it has just been changed. When changes are detected, or even if the camera feed is cut, alerts appear on the dashboard so security personnel can rectify the issue.
Calipsa is also compatible with any ONVIF conformant third-party IP or analog cameras when they are connected to Pelco recorders.
Hanwha Vision Wisenet
Wisenet, from Hanwha Vision, offers another option for cloud-hosted AI analytics for your video surveillance platform.
Wisenet offers features like Smart Noise Reduction, which uses generative AI to clear up images or footage when a camera’s view is obscured by rain, or poor conditions, like low lighting.
This platform also optimizes for bandwidth efficiency, so it places less stress on your network. Through AI analytics, the platform recognizes when the scene is idle, and compresses footage while lowering the quality so your network runs faster.
When activity is detected, quality and compression are returned to normal so footage can be reviewed if necessary.
Other factors like contrast, focus and tone can also be automated so your surveillance system is always capturing the clearest footage is can under the current lighting conditions.
Capabilities like these stack with the analytics that are already available and can be used to conduct searches for people, flag abnormal behavior, and recognize keywords like calls for help.
