Guerin Catholic High School
Guerin Catholic High School in Noblesville, Indiana is a private Catholic school serving just under 800 students. The college preparatory institution offers a rigorous curriculum for students, providing them with the skills necessary to succeed in post-secondary education.
The school also prides itself on community, and its faith-based education. Guerin’s curriculum strives to not only prepare its students for their next stages of life, but to produce young people ready to apply their faith in the real world.
10 years ago, the school began fundraising for its new Fine Arts and Wellness center, a 30,000 square foot facility including a new fieldhouse, auditorium, and plenty of other amenities for its students.
ERMCO, the electrical contractor on the $26 million project, knew they would need experts in audio and video communications to install the complex systems required in the new, 500-seat auditorium. They reached out to Tech Electronics to handle the installation of a comprehensive audio and video system for the auditorium.
Challenge
ERMCO, and engineering firm IMEG, had already designed a complex AV system, tailored to the needs of the new facility, but they still had to make sure the equipment was installed correctly, and in a timely manner for their client.
“Working with Tech Electronics was a very rewarding experience. The entire team from engineering, management and field leadership was professional, easy to work with, and always seemed to be a step ahead in their preparation, planning and execution,” said Brett Brunson, with ERMCO. “We were proud to work alongside the Tech Electronics team on this project and are excited to work with them on future opportunities.”
Tech’s installation included a loudspeaker array, a subwoofer and stage cue speakers along with portable components like lectern, wired and wireless microphones. The auditorium also required intercom communication, stage monitors and a digital mixer at the control booth.
“We were extremely pleased with the expertise and professionalism that Tech brought to our auditorium project,” said Guerin Catholic Theatre Teacher Mike Panasuk. “(Technician) Jeff Hoffman demonstrated exceptional knowledge, patience and clear communication throughout the process. His accommodating approach and attention to detail ensured a seamless installation of all systems.”
Solution
Tech was able to complete the installation, including training school officials on their new equipment in one day. Technicians in Indiana coordinated with engineering staff to ensure the new system was installed correctly and efficiently.
IMEG had designed the AV system for both full scale productions and assemblies with a large format video projector and video cue system for on-stage direction. Tech also installed a touch panel, dividing the complex system into “full production mode,” and “simple mode.”
These two modes, designed by IMEG, allow school officials to simplify the controls for school assemblies without technical staff or open their auditorium to a world of possibilities with all the controls available for professional-level stage productions.
“ERMCO and Tech’s staff were excellent partners, proactively coordinating solutions to every installation challenge. The lead AV technician from Tech was a key contributor during the commissioning and training process that ensured a smooth, successful installation,” said IMEG Senior Technology Designer Russ Hoppel.
“The completed auditorium has exceeded our expectations – the sound quality is outstanding and has elevated the space into a premier venue for experiencing the arts in their many forms. We are truly impressed with the final result,” said Panasuk.
Guerin Catholic High School debuted its new Fine Arts and Wellness Center at the start of the 2025-26 school year, and students are taking full advantage of the new and improved facilities.
“The Tech Electronics team helped deliver a first-class system that both the end-user and designers were delighted with,” said Brunson. “The new sound system is user-friendly, and creates a crisp, clear and immersive experience that will be a staple for the school’s performing space for many years to come.”
