Last week, Avigilon announced several new and enhanced features on their Alta Cloud Security Platform.
The Alta platform is an all-encompassing cloud security solution covering surveillance, access control, intrusion prevention and visitor and mailroom management. The most recent upgrades focused on the Alta Video platform.
Alta Video
The rollout of Avigilon Alta Video 8.2 brings improvements to license plate detection with the recognition of non-ASCII characters. In the release, Avigilon also reported enhanced overall license plate recognition.
License plate recognition is also now available on Alta H6A Dual Head Cameras, offering more flexibility for installations covering large areas.
Pan-tilt-zoom cameras can be configured to reposition automatically based on predetermined rules using the platform’s built-in, AI-powered analytics. Automations can be programmed based on events like people counts, line crossing, purchases at POS systems and others.
With automations programmed, the PTZ cameras can zoom and focus on an individual when they enter a prohibited area or move to monitor a sale at the register more closely.
Alta Video’s cloud connectivity brings enterprise level capabilities, without the additional cost and maintenance that comes with on-premises servers.
The platform is compatible with any cloud-enabled Avigilon cameras and can scale to third-party cameras from brands like Pelco with the Alta Cloud Connector.
AI Analytics
The analytics available through the Alta Cloud platform integrate surveillance, access control and intrusion prevention under one dashboard. Security personnel can view their entire building or campus, and track individuals live.
When integrated with Alta Access, the platform can create video records of individuals entering access points while simultaneously tracking the credentials and timing.
Alta Access
Alta Access allows facility managers to scale their system to nearly unlimited locations and access points without the hassle of on-premises servers, while also offering modern amenities like mobile and hand wave access readers.
They can also control the system live from a workstation or mobile device meaning credentials can be created or removed with one click.
Alta Protect
The analytics available through Alta Video can be focused on intrusion prevention with automatic alerts for events like loitering, unauthorized access and vandalism.
Horn speakers can also be deployed with automatic alerts informing offenders they are under video surveillance and requesting they vacate the area.
The platform also monitors cameras’ audio feeds, so even when perpetrators manage to avoid their field of view, the system can still detect their presence.
Alta Visitor and Mailroom
Avigilon offers a wide variety of video intercom systems well-suited for apartment and office buildings. Through the Alta platform these intercoms can record visit history and screen individuals to ensure they are guests or tenants before they gain access.
The Mailroom platform automates package receiving and recipient notification through the mobile app. Administrators simply need to scan the label of a package delivery and the system notifies the recipient when it has arrived.
They can also configure recipient authentication to ensure a package ends up in the right hands after it has been received.
