Honeywell announced in July that it would be phasing out its NFS-320 fire alarm control panel platform, to be replaced with the new Inspire Series.
This does not mean that existing NFS-320 systems need to be replaced immediately. However, it does mean facility managers should start planning for the future.
The NFS-320 phaseout affects the following panel models and SKUs: NFS-320, NFS-320-PO, NFS-320-SP, NFS-320C, NFS-320C-FR, NFS-320CR, NFS-320E, NFS-320E, NFS-320E, NFS-320R, CPU-320SYS, CPU-320SYS-C, CPU-320SYS-FR, CPU-320SYSE, 320-CLSS-KIT-A, 320-CLSS-KIT-GW, 320-CLSS-KIT-V, 320R-CLSS-KIT-A, 320R-CLSS-KIT-V
Honeywell is transitioning fully to their new Inspire Series platform, including the N16, N16e and N16x fire alarm control panels. These platforms bring increased capability and connectivity to fire and life safety while establishing a foundation that allows it to grow with your facility.
"The Notifier Inspire Series Fire Alarm Control Panel is built upon the proven Onyx Series, with advanced technology, capabilities, and modern architecture designed with strong backwards compatibility."

It is important to note that while existing NFS-320 systems can still be used and maintained, as time goes on parts will become scarce and as the panels age, they will become more prone to failure.
Without the parts necessary to repair them, what would have been a small fix just five years ago could become a costly system replacement. Furthermore, the NFS-320 has limited capacity and is behind the curve of fire and life safety.
Obsolete panels can also represent safety and insurance issues for facility managers.
There is no one-size-fits-all replacement for systems that have been designated for end-of-support or end-of-life. Existing panels could function normally for years, but depending on the facility, now may be the best time to consider a replacement.
